One in four adults in Northern Ireland admit child abuse concerns, survey claims 

  • A survey in Northern Ireland found that one in four adults have concerns about child abuse.
  • The NSPCC are conducting ‘Listen up, Speak up’ workshops and online training to advise on signs that a child may be at risk, how to approach challenging conversations and who to contact if they have concerns.

‘Police not using valuable tool to tackle child criminal exploitation’ says Belfast intervention worker 

  • A Queen’s researcher and youth worker has expressed frustration that tools to tackle child criminal exploitation (CCE) are not being used by NI authorities.
  • The National Referral Mechanism is a tool used to identify and support victims of modern slavery and has been used to tackle CCE, including County Lines drug gangs and their grooming.
